Upon breaking out into the comic medium, Stephen parlayed his Moon Knight fame into a run on Extreme's Prophet. Heavily recruited by Extreme founder Rob Liefeld, Stephen shocked the collecting world with his variant cover to Prophet 4. In what would eventually become an industry collecting standard, this variant epitomized collector desirability and became a classic image later published as a poster as well as a portfolio plate.
Stephen's entire run of covers on Prophet was fully illustrated by him, although delay productions caused his internal contributions to be diminished, with issue #5 being the only one he illustrated completely on his own.
